The news coming out of Los Angeles today is the shock among the Dodgers fans after Paul Winston exercised his right to block a trade that would have sent him to New York
"I don't feel the need to uproot my life here and i have no intrest in playing for new york" Winston said. suggesting the trade could still go down.
"I don't think it's fair that everyone is blaming me for something that can be worked out between the two sides" Winston said . When speaking on the hate mail he has received since his third veto of the trade.
Both New York and Los Angeles are upset since they had a gentlemanly agreement in place that Winston would be the final piece of the trade puzzle made last season.
Reached thursday morning his agent Miller Washington tried to deflect the heat from his client "He's not being selfish as some claim, He's doing what's best for him and his family".
Sources say officials from New York flew to meet Winston at his Santa Ana residence.
"They needed to do alot more convincing for him to make that type of move, he's been with this team for half his major league career & without some kind of financial security i will not advise my client to approve the trade."
Neither Dodgers GM dmaxie16 nor Yankees VP Jamsing7 could be reached for comment.
However a source with close knowledge of the situation says "They were turned off after their meeting with Winston and are moving in another direction with the trade."
